We’re looking for a Senior Commerce Strategist in Toronto to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll lead our strategic offering while bringing your passion for retail, boundless curiosity, and a desire to understand “the why behind the buy”.  Exceptional knowledge of the unique parameters and limitations of retail channels is integral to the role. Your merchandising know-how across the physical and/or digital shelf will guide our design solutions blending the right mix of tactics.

Your day to day will be...

Support Cloudraker commerce strategy, leveraging primary and secondary research sources to inform understanding of the category, channel, culture, consumer/shopper (i.e. mindset, shopping/buying behavior, media/message impact, etc.) and micro/macro trends;

Collaborate with other Rakers to build a cohesive design ecosystem;

Assist in the development and evolution of Cloudraker methodologies and tools;

Mentor other team members on best practices;

Build strong client relationships by earning their trust and providing exceptional service;

Plan, organize and execute strategic and tactical projects for our clients;

Grow our Shopper practice by proactively presenting solutions to clients and helping the team with new business pitches;

Contribute to the overall agency strategy and direction;

Use research and planning tools to monitor consumer and retailer news and trends and share with broader strategy team and assigned client team(s);

Help inform agency POVs and proposals by researching and providing supporting insights and facts;

Support in briefing the creative team with channel or retailer specific intelligence;

Act as an overall CloudRaker ambassador, both internally and externally.

You have...

5+ years of experience in account planning or retail strategy;

A constant drive to stay up-to-date with the latest industry developments (key priorities, retailer-specific guidelines, and strategic initiatives of top Canadian and American retailers);

Excellent presentation, communication, storytelling and negotiation skills;

Experience with business requirement gathering, competitive analysis utilizing primary and secondary research;

Bachelor’s degree in advertising, marketing, communications, behavioral science field (i.e. sociology, psychology, anthropology) or the equivalent combination of education and experience;

Demonstrated ability to analyze results, interpret data, draw sound conclusions, and develop insightful and actionable recommendations;

Knowledge of retail customer base, retail buying dynamics, and shopper behavior metrics;

Proficiency with planning  and consumer/shopper based analytical tools and systems (ex. Nielsen, Shopper Segmentation, etc.)

A master of building relationships of trust with your clients;

Able to manage projects, multi-task, organize, prioritize and structure workload;

An easy going, light-hearted person who doesn’t take themselves too seriously;

Able to stay cool as a cucumber... even when deadlines are looming.
